Brief Introduction:

Using the characteristics of diffraction, the grating as an optical component divides one laser beam into several laser beams. It is the key optical component in the optical head of CD, VCD and DVD. For the application of gratings used in the optical pickup head, the multifunction is acquired and the size of pickup head is reduced as well.
Function Description:
The grating used in the optical pickup head of CD, VCD and DVD is a pure optical phase component. One laser beam is diffracted into a set of laser beams with equal distance by the grating. The beam diffracted in the middle with maximum intensity goes forward along with optical axis is called the main beam (or call zero order). Distributed on the two sides of the main beam with lower intensity is called sidelob (or call plus or minus first order).Main beam is
used to read or write the video and audio signals, and also to acquire the focus servo signals. For the sidelob are used to get the tracking servo signals.
